I thought, as we haven't any correspondent  from here, I would like to become one.

We should all do something great in  1912.  There are many of our friends passing away; and like them, our time  may be short. Let us life for God, and when we are summoned our burdens will be  light.

Our farmers are hustling burning plant bed and getting read for another  crop.

Isaac Dodson sold a mule last week, it being 35 years old

Mrs. Inez Harris is the guest of her mother, Mrs. E.G. Allen, Sherman  Goad, Clifton Vantrease and Garland Pope left Kentucky this week to try a new  country. We wish them success.

Our hearts were made sad just as the sun rose Thursday morning by the  news of the death of Mrs. Nennie Clark, one of our nearest neighbors.  She  was 32 years of age, and professed faith in Christ at the age of 16, and live a  Christian from then until her death.
She was a kind and loving wife and  affectionate friend and a sweet and tender mother. She leaves a husgand and two  children to mourn their loss.Funeral services were conducted at New Middle  Fork by Rev. Copas, after whcih the remains were laid to rest in the Allen  graveyard. Let us live to met Nennie in heavan, our beautiful home.  Beauty  Spot.

DURHAM SPRINGS
Farmers are preparing to sow tobacco beds and some have  already sown.

There is a revival meeting at New Bethel church with a number of  professions and several at the altar.

Will York and Riley McAdams attended the Odd Fellows meeting at  Scottsville Saturday night.

So much sickness keeps Dr. Whitlow on the go.

Come on correspondants and let’s make The Times the best paper  going.

GAINSVILLE
Clay Williams was in Bowling Green the first of the  week.

Sid and Bud Shields bought a pair of mules in Scottsville Wednesday of  last week.

Not much sickness to report at present.

Albert Long took a load of tobacco to Bowling Green for J.D.  Stark

W.G. Graham is real sick.

Mrs. Jane Akers is spending the weeks with her sister, Mrs. Harriett  Pruitt.

Clarence Bergen left Friday for Glasgow to enlist in the army. Clarence  is one of our neighbor boys an we regret to see him leave.

John Pruitt and family, of Tracy, Barren County, spent Friday night with  Mr. Pruitt’s mother, Mrs. Harriet Pruitt

An effort meeting will begin at this place next Sunday night with Bro. Howell, assisted by Bro. Tobias Ham.

Allie Patton anticipates going to St. Louis in the near future.

Lafe Long bought a mule from Younger Ayers recently. Price. $175.00

We are glad to report the meeting at Betlelem to be progressing.  Several professions.

Quite a number from this place attended the social at Bob Bolberts  Saturday night of last week.

Genie Buchanon bought a mule form Albert Long last week for  $185.00

An effort meeting will begin at Clifton the second Sunday in  February.

We regret to learn that Mr. Green Nichols, of Settle, is confinded to his room with nervous breakdown.

We were surprised to hear the new of the marriage of L. Johnson and  Nancy Petty. These two young people are very prominent in the social circles of  this community and we wish them a long and prosperous life.  Country  Boy


ALLEN SPRINGS
Miss Glee Pruitt, of Halfway, visited her aunt, Mrs. W.F. Cooksey, last week.

Mrs. Edd Satterfield’s children, Lewis and Erlene, have been quite  sick, but are better now.

Paul Poe, of Alvaton, is here to spend a few weeks with his brother,  Aubrey Poe.

Gilbert Pruitt and wife are spending a few days at Mr. Pruitt’s  father’s.

The school here conducted by Miss Ida Eaton closed Jan. 26. On the  evening of the 25 inst., and entertainment was given at the school building  which is said to be the best given here for many years. This closes three years  of successful school work for Miss Eaton at this place. She returned to her home  in Scottsville Sunday.

Misses Bessie and Waivie Pearson, of Hardcastle, and Misses Kate and  Ethel Harmon, of Moss, visited Miss Hallie Satterfield Thursday and  Friday.

John Ayers, of Halfway, visited his brother Charlie Ayers, of this  place Friday.

Herschel Thacker made his usual trip to Humphrey McReynold’s last  Sunday week.

W.F. Cooksey spent Sunday with Lige Satterfield and wife.

Mrs. H.F. Smith visited her father, J.Y Buchanon, Friday. Mr. Buchanon  left Sunday for Hot Springs.

Herschel Thacker made a flying trip to Scottsville last Sunday.

Dr. L.M. Weaver visited his mother last week. Dr. Weaver has a fine  practice here and is certainly appreciated by our people.

Miss Hallie Satterfield spent the week-end at Mr. W.F. Cooksey’s the  guest of Miss Ida Eaton.  Jake


HALIFAX
Hubert Willougby and wife visited Green Cook and family Sunday.

The candy breaking given by Sherman Reynolds and wife Saturday night  was highly enjoyed by all present.  Those present were: Misses Nan and Maud  Reynolds, Flora and Versie Welch, Fleetie Cook, Sallie and Ora Williams, Edna Willoughby and Rena Strait. Messrs. Price and Ford Reynolds, Clay, Virgil and Bryant Williams, Adair Willoughby, Tommie and Teddie Conner, Hughy StraitTommie,
Robert and Arthur Welch.

The ordination of Bro. Lem Pruitt has been put off until Friday before  the fourth Sunday in February.

Levi Williams and family and Bill Meredith and family were visiting Hin Motley and family Sunday.

Seagle Oliver and wife are visiting his mother, Mrs. J. Fin. Motley.

W.T. Conner and wife visited his father Sunday. Stranger


POPE
Those on the sick list are Alfred Bush, Mrs. Eliza Pope, James Taylor.  These people are slowly improving.

It’s a boy at Florence Lovell’s

Farmers are delivering their tobacco, some going East, some going West  and some burning and sowing plant beds.

Burce Hargett killed a snake on the 26th. It was a very larg one and it  was fighting his dog when he shot it.   John

Mrs. James Overall, of Murfreesboro, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Ivy Walker.
Miss Sarah Devasher is in Frankfort , the guest of Mrs. Earl Huntsman
Mrs. Hudson, of Nashville, who has been the guest of Mrs. Ivy Walker, has returned to her home.
Mrs. Cora Meredith, of Franklin, is the guest of Mrs. Hubert Meredith.
Miss Paul Welch, who has been quite sick for a few weeks, is improving.
Little Miss Chatryne Walker is quite sick at her home on Market St.
Mrs. Phoebe Devasher is in the county, the guest of Mrs. Dee Siddens.
Miss Nell Walker is the guest of Mrs. W.E. Downing
Dr. N.M. Rutland has returned from Empire.


DEATHS

The infant of WILL SIKES died Jan 22 and was buried the following day in the family ground.

-- The 18mo child of ARTHUR CRABTREE at Akersville died at its home Jan 23 of pneumonia & Minginitis
-- Mrs. JULIA HALE died Sat. night at the home of her son Mr. EMORY. She was near 80 years old. Funeral services were conducted from the residence of the deceased which the interment was made in the family burying ground
